|About the Online Walnut Research Report Project
This project was funded by the Walnut Marketing Board (WMB).
Walnut Research Reports/Abstracts have been published since 1971 in conjunction with the annual Walnut Research Conference. In the first nine years 1971-80, they were limited to abstracts of walnut research, but expanded into full reports beginning in 1981.
In 1979, Paul La Vine, a walnut farm advisor in Stanislaus County on sabbatical leave at UC Davis, worked with David Ramos in developing an index of walnut research conducted from 1971 through 1978. Its primary purpose was to facilitate literature reviews of past research by researchers/farm advisors as a necessary prerequisite to the development of project proposals.
Much of this information is unpublished in scientific publications and not available through conventional literature searches. The index would also be useful for retrieving earlier research results that might be applied toward the resolution of industry problems as they arise. The research reports are updated annually after the Walnut Research Conference.
